Abrakadabra in Delhi

 Hallo zusammen,

Jahrhunderts in Auftrag.

Hello everybody,

once more, a week has passed, and a calm one. Not much exciting happened since the last blog entry. I have just been on the post office where I blocked three counters (two of them at the same time) and a guy who wraps the parcels into linen for just a postcard and a parcel. After all, the post office clerk remembered me from last time I stepped in ;o)
Today I toured around Delhi once more, this time to Gandhi Smriti and Jantar Mantar. Gandhi Smriti is a memorial place to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and is located on the place where he lived for the last few months of his life. There is an exhibition about his life and the room where Gandhi lived that can be visited. In there are the very few things owned by Gandhi - he really lived Spartan! Also, the path Gandhi took when he was shot on his way to a prayer meeting still exists. His last steps are made visible through footsteps poured concrete. Gandhi’s place to pray is still there, too.
Jantar Mantar (Hindi: Abracadabra) is something weird. In spite of his bizarre optics, it really was used: it was built as an observatory. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. commissioned the building at the beginning of 18th century AD.
After that, I walked to the formidable Imperial Hotel where I had a light supper and a cocktail whilst admiring the interior of a true Five-Star-Hotel ;o)

Well, that would be all of it for this time.

See you!
