Endlich da...

Namaste in Indien ;o)

Ich bin heute früh wohlbehalten und planmäßig in Delhi gelandet und auch gleich von zwei Mitstudenten (bzw. einer der beiden ist mein „Buddy Mentor“) direkt vom Flughafen abgeholt worden. Wir sind dann gleich zum College gefahren, wo ich erste Einweisungen erhalten habe, wie das Ganze so abläuft und welche Kurse ich besuchen kann. Morgen geht es auch gleich mit einer Marketingvorlesung los, aber nur ca. eine Stunde, danach haben wir bis Montag frei. Dann wird auch festgelegt, welche Kurse ich in diesem „Block“ besuchen werde. Das Semester ist hier nämlich in zehn solche Blöcke aufgeteilt, während derer jeweils vier Kurse angeboten werden, zwei vormittags und zwei Nachmittags. Das heißt, man kann also maximal zwei der Kurse wählen, da es sonst zu Terminkollisionen kommt. Weil der jetzige Block schon am zweiten September angefangen hat, werde ich wohl nur mehr eine Vorlesung jetzt gleich belegen und im nächsten Block, welcher Ende September beginnt, dann mit anderen Kursen weitermachen.

Momentan wohne ich im Ajay Guest House mitten auf dem Main Bazaar, einem richtigen Backpackerviertel ;o) Gigantisch hier - überall riecht es nach Räucherstäbchen und/oder indischem Essen und die Straßen sind hier tatsächlich so, wie es auf all den Fotos und in den Dokumentationen zu sehen ist: voll mit Menschen, Auto- und Fahrradrikschas, Hunden und Abfall. Oh, und Läden, welche sich bis in die Straße hinein ausbreiten. Die Taxifahrer weigern sich, hier hereinzufahren, weil es einfach kein Durchkommen für Autos gibt. Mein Guest House selbst liegt in einer Seitengasse (keine Angst, ganz am Anfang!), bei deren Anblick mir schlicht der Kinnladen runtergefallen ist. Siehe Foto

Ab morgen hoffe ich, mit zwei Mitstudenten aus Deutschland, welche sonst am MCI studieren, eine Wohnung mieten zu können. Die beiden haben für heute und morgen jeweils ein oder zwei Termine, um Wohnungen anzuschauen. Mal sehen, was dabei herauskommt.

So alles in allem bin ich bisher begeistert. Ich wurde wirklich ausgesprochen nett aufgenommen und bisher sind wirklich alle sehr, sehr hilfsbereit und lustig.

Heute Abend werde ich noch mit den beiden Deutschen, Anne und Jan, und ein paar von den indischen Studenten, welche ich erst noch kennen lerne, essen gehen in Richtung Connaught Place. Bin schon super gespannt und werde euch demnächst davon berichten.

This morning, I landed safely and as planned in Delhi and got picked up directly by two student colleagues (one of them is my so-called “buddy mentor”) from the airport. We then drove to the IILM where I got my first instructions about the process and which courses I will be able to attend. Tomorrow we start straight ahead with a marketing lecture, but only for one hour. After that, we will be free until Monday. Then we’re going to fix, which courses I will attend during this “block”. At the IILM, the semester is divided into ten such block. Each block offers four different courses, two in the morning, two in the afternoon. That means, one can only attend maximal two courses due to conflicting schedules. As the current block has already started on 2^nd of September, I think I am going to attend only one course for the time being. When the next block starts at the end of September, I will continue with more courses.

Now I am staying in the Ajay Guest House in the middle of Main Bazaar, which is truly a backpacker quarter. It is amazing - the air is full of the smell of incense sticks and/or Indian food and the streets are really like on photos and in documentary films: packed with human beings, trishaws, motorcycle carts, dogs and garbage. Oh, and shops which are expanding to the middle of the street. The taxi drivers refuse to drive into the street because it would be impossible to get through here with a car. My Guest House itself is in a small side street (don’t you worry, right at the beginning!). When I saw that narrow street, I simply was speechless. See the picture below.

From tomorrow on, I hope to be able to rent a flat with two German students, who are studying at the MCI in Austria. Today and tomorrow they are planning to have a look at some flats around, we will see what will be the results of it.

Therefore, overall, I am enthusiastic as everybody has been so nice, friendly, and helpful to me so far.

This evening, I will go for dinner somewhere on Connaught Place with the two German students, Anne and Jan, and some of the Indian ones I am going to know later on. I am really looking forward and I will report to you soon.
